Native Plant Collection

Beautiful and Beneficial

In an effort to support our customers in landscaping with habitat-enriching plants, we have been expanding our collection of native plants. A native plant is a species that naturally occurred in an area prior to European settlement. We now carry over 40 perennials that are native to the Northeastern US, with nearly ¼ of those being specifically native to Vermont!

Gardening with native plants increases biological diversity, as well as providing food and habitat for nearly every other living thing in that ecosystem. Because of the crucial role that plants play, using natives is even significant in smaller gardens. Planting natives will also beautify your garden by adding colorful blooms and textures that attract and support birds, butterflies, bees, and many other beneficial insects. In addition, since native plants are well adapted to the specific conditions of this area, if they are properly placed for light and moisture needs, they will require very little care from you!
